Dynamic simulator and model predictive control of a milk pasteurizer

In this study, the design, optimization and dynamic modelling of a milk pasteurization unit have been developed, using pseudo-component approach for describing properties. The fluid has regarded as mixture five major categories, namely water, fats, proteins, carbohydrates, minerals. Exploiting optimal pasteurizer configuration, selected based on total annualized cost, model process also derived. simulation system is then used virtual plant to develop nonlinear predictive control (NMPC) designed rejecting more important disturbances that can enter system. predicted trajectories calculated with simplified version model, obtained by neglecting parameters temperature dependence. NMPC performance compared PI controller in terms set-point tracking disturbance rejection. Similar results when different algorithms output responses, but showed better behaviour manipulated variables.
